The story behind the design

The Saudi proverb "A Goat, Even If It Flies" (عنز ولو طارت) was the inspiration for this design. This popular saying is used to describe stubbornness and holding onto one’s opinion, even when the truth is undeniable.

The origin of the proverb comes from a humorous story about two hunters who noticed a black shape in the distance. One confidently said, "That’s a crow," while the other insisted, "No, it’s a goat." As they approached, the shape flew away, proving it was indeed a crow. Despite this, the second man replied, "It’s a goat, even if it flew."

I wanted the design to reflect the humor and determination behind this saying. By using simple and clean visuals, the goal was to capture the essence of the proverb in a way that feels culturally rooted yet allows viewers to interpret and connect with the message in their own way. The balance of humor and meaning in the design mirrors the lighthearted yet thought-provoking nature of the proverb itself.

The Concept

I started with the core of the proverb – a goat flying with wings – a visual metaphor for persistence and determination. The design aimed to keep the idea clear and simple, avoiding unnecessary details, while giving viewers the freedom to connect with the story in their own way.

Colors and composition

I chose orange as the primary background color because it radiates warmth and boldness, giving the design an inviting and energetic feel. The goat, depicted in red, takes center stage to immediately draw attention to the main idea. The light blue wings add a sense of movement and balance, softening the intensity of the design and creating a visual flow.

The typography and elements were kept simple and organized, using a clean, modern font to present the proverb clearly. Negative space around the elements played a key role in highlighting the design, allowing the viewer to focus on the concept without distractions.
