Rebranding visual identity and packaging for
Al-Fanar Café

The Client:
Since its launch in 2001 in Jubail Industrial City, Al Fanar Café has become a prominent destination for coffee enthusiasts, blending a passion for quality with exceptional service.

Over 15 years, it has expanded to include more than 25 branches, solidifying its position as a distinctive brand offering an unforgettable experience.

The first challenge was that the logo lacked modernity and a connection to the meaning of "Al Fanar" (the lighthouse), which stripped the brand of its unique identity. More importantly, the story behind the name, inspired by the port of Mocha—the first port to export coffee to the world—was neither visually nor narratively utilized, leaving a significant gap in the brand’s identity.

The name "Al Fanar" is inspired by the historic port of Mocha, the world’s first coffee export hub, known for its lighthouse that guided ships. This rich story, steeped in history and culture, was overlooked in the old identity—becoming our starting point for redefining the brand.

We designed a logo that embodies the essence of the name and its history, connecting it to the "lighthouse" as a symbol of guidance and inspiration. Additionally, we redefined the visual identity to strike a balance between authenticity and modernity.

Design that Reflects the Brand's Meaning

We redesigned the logo to incorporate elements inspired by the concept of the lighthouse, using clean, modern lines. To deepen the connection, we linked the lighthouse with coffee—symbolizing Al Fanar as a guiding light in the world of coffee and the perfect destination for coffee lovers worldwide.

We made subtle adjustments to the brand’s core colors, ensuring they retain their timeless essence. At the same time, we introduced contemporary shades to add a modern touch, enhancing the identity without straying from the signature color that represents the brand.

Additionally, we chose typefaces that align with the brand’s voice, carefully selected to achieve the desired emotional and visual impact, reinforcing the connection between the identity and its audience.
